The Table’s Initiative Increased NHIS Coverage for Hundreds of People

On the 28th of December 2023, ‘The Table’ initiative, as committed, successfully fulfilled one of its core mandates – improving healthcare access for its residents. More than 400 people were enrolled, both for renewal and new registration.

Despite the program not receiving extensive advertisement, the community’s response was remarkable. Even though the event was scheduled to start at 8:00 am, community members began gathering as early as 6:00 am for registration. Due to the overwhelming turnout, the NHIS officers extended the advertised closing time from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

The Table’ expressed satisfaction and admiration for the number of people who prioritized this exercise and the conduct displayed by everyone involved. They have pledged to register thousands more in the district and educate residents on the benefits of the NHIS initiative and its coverage for subscribers.

This is not the end, but a continuous mandate for ‘The Table’ to also facilitate the integration of the NHIS card into the NIA (Ghana card), utilizing both in-person visits and online platforms. Consequently, residents can access premium healthcare with their Ghana card, even in the absence of the NHIS card.

The success of this initiative could not have been achieved without the effort of the dedicated officers of the NHIS and the strong participation of members of ‘The Table’. ‘The Table’ commends the nation and the government for maintaining the NHIS initiative and urges the government to ensure proper work ethics and practices among its officers to make the initiative attractive and patronized. They also encourage all those who couldn’t register this time to join in the next round.

The Chairman, Aaron Afful, on behalf of ‘The Table’, wishes the community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.
